A Leatherhead firm that surveys both ends
A removals firm in a Surrey market town, working a patch that runs from a High Street terrace to a gated drive in the pines — and quoting each of them as what it actually is.
Where we work
Leatherhead KT22 and the Mole Valley around it. The old town and the commuter streets, Fetcham and the Bookhams west, Oxshott north, Ashtead east, and Effingham and the Surrey Hills villages south.
Epsom, Ewell and Stoneleigh belong to a sibling site on our network, and Surrey-wide and long-distance work goes to our county site. Ashtead sits on the border and both of us work it — we take it from this side, and for anything nearer Epsom we will point you there rather than compete over a village.
Why we survey both ends
Most firms survey the property you are leaving. We survey the one you are going to as well, and it is the second one that costs people a day.
A gate too narrow for the vehicle, a drive with nowhere to turn, a doorway a wardrobe will not pass, a lift that takes people but not furniture. None of those are visible from the address you are moving out of, and every one of them changes the plan. Better found with a tape measure than with a loaded lorry at the end of a drive.
The gate questions
On the larger properties here — Oxshott, the Fetcham hillside, the gated Bookham houses — the inside of the house is the easy part. So the survey concentrates on the entrance: how wide is the gate, does the drive turn tighter than it looks, will the surface take a loaded vehicle, is there turning space at the house, and how does the gate actually open on the day.
That last one sounds trivial. It is the difference between starting on time and standing at the end of a drive with a crew on the clock.
What we say about time and cost
We quote in writing after a survey, and the written quote is the number. If something genuinely changes — a second address appears, or the chain moves — we tell you what it means before we act on it rather than after.
On the larger houses we will say plainly when two vehicles are better than one doing two runs, or when splitting across two days beats compressing into one. We do not publish prices or transit windows here because neither is meaningful before we have seen the job.
Small jobs, same standard
A single room, a saleroom collection or one heavy piece gets the same crews and the same protection as a gated house at Oxshott. Smaller vehicle, shorter day, same standard — and if a smaller and cheaper service would suit the job better, we will say so before you book.
What we do not do
We do not quote before we understand the job. We do not promise a transit time we cannot stand behind. We do not take on a property without establishing that we can physically reach it. And we do not claim awards, accreditations, press coverage or customer numbers we have not got — if it is not on this site, it is because it is not true yet.
Cover
Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we will confirm in writing what applies. The contractual position is on the terms page.
